Cruisers have always been like an inferior race in the Indian market when compared to the sales number of other segments in the low capacity range like naked, sports or commuters. However, when we get to a slightly premium segment, the top players like Ducati, Harley-Davidson and Triumph have always been top notch compared to the other segments in the same price bracket. Over the years, we have seen a huge craze for cruiser motorcycles and the number of such premium cruisers spotted on the roads eventually increased. The Harley-Davidson Street series or the UM Commando have turned the tides towards the segment like never before. So here we will talk about the top five premium cruiser motorcycles in India that are worth the hefty price tag that they carry. UM Renegade Commando Undoubtedly, the UM Renegade Commando is the best-selling premium cruiser in India. There are two reasons that have always favoured UM, the retro styling and the competitive price tag. Let aside the small capacity engine, who wouldn’t want a premium brand sticker on their cruiser? The UM Renegade Commando is powered by a 279.5 cc, single cylinder engine which is capable of making a maximum power of 25.15 bhp at 8,500 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 23 Nm at 7,000 revs per minute. The power is supplied to the wheel via a 6-speed gearbox unit. Kawasaki Vulcan S The Kawasaki Vulcan S is one of the rarest premium cruisers that you will spot on the roads. The design is very much aggressive, though being a cruiser at the same time. The motorcycle is suspended over 41 mm front fork and single-shock offset laydown at the rear. At the heart, the Kawasaki Vulcan S is driven by a powerful 649 cc, two-cylinder, fuel injected engine, which can thump out a huge power of 61 bhp at 7,500 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 63 Nm at 6,600 revs per minute. A 6-speed transmission gearbox is attached to the motor. Triumph Bonneville Bobber The Triumph Bonneville Bobber is one of the latest additions in the premium cruiser range from Triumph and has a unique Scrambler-like design. The spoke wheel and retro-ish suspension bring about a sense of conventionalism to this cruiser. However, the most attractive thing about this motorcycle is the single seat, which looks more like a floating seat at the first impression. Getting to the mechanical details, the Triumph Bonneville Bobber is powered by a massive 1,200 cc, two-cylinder engine which can thumb out a maximum power of 77 bhp at just 6,100 revs per minute along with a humongous torque of 106 Nm at 4,000 revs per minute. The power is taken to the wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle can hit an acceleration of 0-100 kmph in just 4.56 seconds, which is no less than any performance-oriented sports motorcycle. Ducati Diavel You may often consider the Ducati Diavel to be a sports motorcycle with semi-fairing attached. But trust me, it is not. In fact, it is one of the most comfortable cruisers in the premium range with low rider’s seat and high handlebar. It is suspended over 50 mm upside-down fork in the front and swingarm at the rear. The Ducati draws its power from a 1194.4 cc, dual-cylinder engine which is the most powerful engine in this list. The engine can make a maximum power of 152 bhp at 9,000 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 123 Nm at 8,000 revs per minute. The high revving engine indicates how much sporty the Diavel is. Harley Davidson Street 750 The Harley-Davidson is the most popular Harley cruiser in India. The design is something to fall in love with, which includes some seriously classy paint job. Plus, the fact that it is not as expensive as the Ducati or the Triumph makes it even more popular among all motorcycle enthusiasts. The Harley Davidson Street 750 is powered by a 749 cc, two-cylinder engine which is very much capable of making a maximum power of 47.5 bhp at just 8,000 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 59 Nm at just 3,750 revs per minute. It boasts on a top speed of 200 kmph and offers a pretty impressive mileage of 17 kmpl. Verdict I know these cruisers are hard to resist. If you love two-wheelers and have an inclination towards cruisers, these models will definitely blow your mind. However, the only impediment between these cruisers and their mass sale is their price tag, which is always a cause of concern in a developing country like India. But if we keep aside the price factor and start admiring these lovely beasts, we will find many more than five that could be loved and desired for.
